Neilson Park Creative Centre is a creative arts facility built by the City of Etobicoke in 1992 and operated by a non-profit volunteer corporation. It is managed by a Board of Directors which includes representatives from the Resident Groups and the community.
The Centre is home to six Resident Groups: The Etobicoke Handweavers and Spinners, The Etobicoke Quilters Guild, The Heritage Rugcrafters of Etobicoke, The Humber Valley Art Club and The Etobicoke Art Group and our newest member community group, the Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto.
The fully accessible facility provides a community focus for creative visual arts in west Toronto. It includes four studios, 2 public galleries, administrative offices and ancillary spaces in a single storey structure.
Located at the south end of beautiful Neilson Park, functional spaces have been organized along a curving central spine reflecting the original farm tract through the site and culminating in a small glazed seating area overlooking the river valley. Exterior materials of masonry, stucco and concrete roof tile have been chosen for their compatibility with the natural setting.
The spaces incorporate many features unique to artistic activity; warm & cool lighting, track lighting, banks of 10’ tall windows for natural light, special sinks & plumbing, easels and moveable tables.
The galleries feature a wide variety of exhibitions with a strong emphasis on local and contemporary artists. These Galleries and the four bright, spacious studios offer residents the unique opportunity for the creation, teaching and displaying of fine arts and crafts. Click here to visit…
